The 20 dirhams of 1996 is devoted to the landmark project of Hassan II’s reign, the mosque bearing his name in Casablanca. The front shows the king against the mosque, opened in 1993 on the Atlantic shore; its 210-metre minaret is one of the tallest in the world.
The back continues the theme with a wall fountain of the same mosque. Held to the light, a watermark portrait of Hassan II appears. The note was printed with five different signature combinations, so the varieties of this type are collected separately.
For a Morocco collection it pairs a portrait of Hassan II with his most famous monument, and for a «mosques on banknotes» set it is a key piece: the Hassan II Mosque appears on both sides. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
